Netflix review : Rim of the world

Ok so we have been doing this on and off for a while now. Ask yourself what would happen when you put four kids at a summer camp during an alien invasion?

You get this movie. It has the most laughs for the crew at wolfduckstudios since Storks. Form of a funny movie! Go watch storks if you need to understand this. Anyhow. Spoilers ahead for you all.

It all starts with our crew of:

1. Alex- The typical coward who is more our technical leader type. He is fearful after the death of his father and is also the nerd of the group.

2. Dariush – Seemingly rich african american kid that is a walking stereotype on purpose as far as we can tell until he drops his attitude later

3. Zhen Zhen- A runaway from China that makes us wonder if thats her actual name. She sometimes speaks in movie quotes which seems stupid but she is a living easter egg.

4. Gabriel- A kid that got out of Juvie

going off to summer camp when independence day breaks out and they acknowledge that with the best response possible which is hilarious because how many kids have actually seen the original? We are all adults now! That beautiful joke sits well with us.

So they got abandoned where they were by everyone else and they make it back to camp just for hell to get crazy since it fuses Alien, signs and stranger things on us. Alien because Dariush gets face hugged and signs done right because of a scene where Zhen Zhen and Alex are trapped. It’s like the crew was telling M. Night Shyamalan How to make that kind of thing properly intimidating.

So somewhere during this nonsense of war of the worlds where they think they kill the alien and its dog I think. The kids they find a capsule with a scientist in it who gives them a key and tells them to get it to JPL and so they set on a quest to try and get down the mountain and find an adult. Our team of brilliant goofballs try to go to the cops when they go to the police station and all they find is a criminal in a holding cell. They give him the keys and leave like thats not gonna bite them in the ass later right? Right? Right?! And the stupid children get the keys to the kingdom of heaven?

Angry bible quips aside and skipping a lot of team bonding and hanging out at Gabriel house later they run into military officials still trying to evacuate people. they try to give them the keys but everyone there during that evacuation ends up dead and they get the key back from a fallen soldier. This also includes the return of you guessed it prison guy.

Our team decides to take action as they stumble across a mall which is so typical of almost all horror and thriller movies its appalling or would be if they didn’t make it hilarious for us. Unlike the typical kids hide in the mall while the monster hunts them down because this whole time its been hunting them.

They hot wire a car that wouldn’t be affected by emps and head for JPL with Zhen Zhens bad ass driving for a kid. Zhen Zhen is now our spirit animal or at least Mulan’s reincarnation in our opinion.

So they eventually get this to JPL and everyones dead and theirs a military man on the screen who tells them the missions a failure. But Alex gives him what for showing himself to be this groups one and only true leader.

They follow the directions and set off the defense system saving humanity. Yay!

So this movie starts out rather serious and goes into comedy real fast. It’s probably the reason we like it so much. Netflix just keeps putting out the craziest stuff. And we will continue to enjoy their nonsense until the end of time.

Wolf- 8 howls out of 10
Duck- gives it 10 quacks out of 10
